HUNTING & FISHING

Hunting
Kapuskasing is a wildlife enthusiast's and hunter's paradise, boasting a variety of game. Large game hunters can pursue moose, wolves, and black bears. Small game aficionados will find ruffed grouse (partridge), spruce grouse, sharptail grouse, and snowshoe hares.
The region is also a hotspot for trappers, with abundant fur-bearing animals like beavers, lynx, otters, minks, martens, weasels, muskrats, wolves, foxes, and red squirrels.
Bird hunters will enjoy the rich waterfowl population in local waterways and wetlands, including goldeneye ducks, mallards, mergansers, ring-necked ducks, and migratory birds such as the Canada goose.
Before embarking on your hunting adventure in Kapuskasing, we encourage you to visit the Ministry's website for important information and regulations to ensure a safe and responsible hunting experience in Ontario.

Fishing
Northern Ontario's breathtaking rivers and lakes are perfectly showcased by the Kapuskasing River. Flowing north to meet the Mattagami River, it's part of the journey towards James Bay and Hudson Bay in the Arctic watershed, making it great for sports activities.
Nearby, Rémi Lake, the largest water body in the area, along with the Opasatika system, is a popular spot for year-round recreation.
For fishing enthusiasts, the local waters offer walleye (yellow pickerel), a top choice for anglers, abundant coarse fish like yellow perch, white sucker, and lake whitefish, and the occasional small brook trout in O'Brien Creek for those after something a bit different.
Before setting out on your fishing adventure in Ontario, make sure to familiarize yourself with the necessary information and regulations to ensure a rewarding and responsible experience.
